Ben Crosland first produced his arrangements of the Ray Davies Songbook in 2016 and has been touring that programme through many Jazz Festivals and Clubs since then. The Quintet will arrive in Nairn fresh from the Langtoun Jazz Festival in Fife.

McCreadie has been winning awards since his mid-teens and his group's debut album, Turas, released in 2018, showed extraordinary maturity. It won the Album of the Year title at both the Parliamentary Jazz Awards - the UK's most prestigious jazz prizes - and the Scottish Jazz Awards. McCreadie himself went on to win the Best Instrumentalist title at the Scottish Jazz Awards in 2018 and 2020.

Another great night with Quattro MacJazz. Unfortunately Lennie Herd had to miss the gig, still suffering the after effects of Covid but we we were lucky to enjoy the brilliant playing of stand in trumpeter Mike Daly who made the long drive north from home in the deep south (well, Ayrshire…). Another to briefly join the line up was Guide dog Domino who stepped in for a photo!

Founded in 2006, Forrie Cairns the great Scottish clarinet player from the Clyde Valley Stompers era of the 1950s and 60s had the idea for the band with a four man line-up. With the right four guys, it produces a very clean swinging sound, ideal for traditional jazz classics.
